Alkali cellulose crumbs are fed to an ageing drum where time and temperature is controlled for obtaining required degradation of cellulose so as to from shorter molecules by oxidation of the longer chain cellulose.
After ageing the alkali cellulose is treated with carbondisulphide to convert into cellulose xanthate.
Cellulose xanthate is dissolved in dilute caustic soda and the viscose obtained is then filtered, deaerated and allowed to ripen.
The ripened and filtered viscose is pumped under pressure through precious metal spinnerttes submerged in a baht composed by Sulphuric Acid, Sodium Sulphate and Xinc Sulphate. from each hole in the spinnerette or regenerated cellulose.
In the extrusion spinning machine there are a number of spinnerettes with large number of holes through which the filaments emerge which are collected together and cut into desired staple length.
The cut fibre is then desulphurised, bleached and finished on an Aftertreatment machine.
The fibre so purified is dried and baled. |
